ADRS’s largest division, VRS provides individualized employment- and education-related services and training to assist youth and adults with disabilities achieve their employment goal.

VRS provides transition services in collaboration with local high schools, technical colleges, junior colleges and universities statewide to assist students with disabilities in receiving appropriate educational opportunities.

The goal of VRS is to enable individuals with disabilities to increase self-sufficiency through employment. For Alabamians with disabilities, VRS strives to enhance employment opportunities and empowers individuals with disabilities to achieve their maximum potential.

Services


VRS provides individualized rehabilitation services to assist consumers in obtaining and maintaining competitive integrated employment.

In addition to employment services, Supported Employment provides extensive services, including long term supports, to individuals with the most-significant disabilities. Contact your local VR office for more information and schedule an appointment. Office Locations

Transition services are a coordinated set of activities that assist youth with disabilities to successfully transition from high school to employment or post-secondary training opportunities. Every public high school in Alabama has a vocational rehabilitation counselor assigned to provide pre-employment and transition services. Assists eligible adults who receive SSDI or SSI in reaching their employment goals and to increase self-sufficiency. Contact your local VRS office to request an appointment with a rehabilitation counselor. Office Locations

Certified Community Work Incentive Coordinators (CWICs) help SSDI/SSI beneficiaries make informed decisions regarding how employment may affect their cash and health care benefits. Services are not limited to current or past ADRS participation. Call the ADRS Benefits Counseling Information & Referral Hotline at (877) 816-4602.

A VRS Community Rehabilitation Provider (CRP) is a non-profit, non-government organization that partners with ADRS to assist its consumers with obtaining and maintaining competitive, integrated employment.
