The Alabama Department of Rehabilitation Services is committed to recruiting, developing, retaining and promoting a diverse, qualified staff. The LEaP program offers training to individuals interested in learning experiences within ADRS’s many rehabilitation professions. It provides work experience for consumers and individuals who are eligible for employment in the field of rehabilitation. The Alabama State Personnel Department processes applications for all state merit system positions:

To be eligible for a position, applicants must meet the minimum requirement(s) as listed on the job announcement.

  • Health Insurance: State Employee's Insurance Board offers single or dependent health insurance coverage through Blue Cross/Blue Shield of Alabama. Dependent coverage available for an additional premium.
  • Dental Insurance: SEIB also offers single or family dental insurance through BCBS of Alabama or Southland.
  • Annual/Vacation Leave: New employees accrue 13 days per year.
  • Sick Leave: Employees accrue 13 days per year.
  • Holidays: ADRS observes 13 holidays per year.
  • Retirement Plan: Teacher's Retirement System of Alabama (Employees are vested after 10 years of service).
  • Deferred Compensation Plan: RSA-1 and/or Empower Retirement
  • Alabama State Employees Credit Union: Member checking, savings, loans, safety deposit box and other services
  • Life Insurance: $15,000 group term (contingent on annual funding by Legislature)
  • Continuing Education: Professional development opportunities through Staff Development and Training. Continuing Education Credits (CEUs) are provided for those job classifications that require licensing and/or certification.
