The Alabama State Personnel Department processes applications for all state merit system positions:

To be eligible for a position, applicants must meet the minimum requirement(s) as listed on the job announcement.

  • Health Insurance: State Employee's Insurance Board offers single or dependent health insurance coverage through Blue Cross/Blue Shield of Alabama. Dependent coverage available for an additional premium.
  • Dental Insurance: SEIB also offers single or family dental insurance through BCBS of Alabama or Southland.
  • Annual/Vacation Leave: New employees accrue 13 days per year.
  • Sick Leave: Employees accrue 13 days per year.
  • Holidays: ADRS observes 13 holidays per year.
  • Retirement Plan: Teacher's Retirement System of Alabama (Employees are vested after 10 years of service).
  • Deferred Compensation Plan: RSA-1 and/or Empower Retirement

ADRS offers students the opportunity to participate in learning experiences within many of our programs. We also provide work experience for consumers and individuals who are eligible for employment in the field of rehabilitation.

For consideration, all requests for an internship, practicum, field placement, learning experience, observation or clinical rotation must be made to the agency’s recruitment specialist, Gwenea Jackson. In addition to the forms below, a letter of recommendation from the academic advisor, sponsoring agency, or VR counselor should accompany forms.
