Accessibility

At the Alabama Department of Rehabilitation Services, we value the people who are directly or indirectly affected by the services we provide. Among those affected are individuals who utilize assistive technologies when browsing the Internet. For this reason, we took great care to ensure that people with disabilities -- as well as those who for one reason or another use older browsers -- can "feel at home" when viewing our website. At the same time, however, we did not want those who want to fully "experience" the Internet to be constrained in any way. In order to accomplish the difficult task of leveraging accessibility and the latest internet technologies, we decided to create a graphic as well as a text-only version of the website to accommodate all website visitors.

The graphic website employs javascript, cascading style sheets, graphics, Macromedia Flash , and other technologies to make the website look appealing and easy to use. At the same time, we make sure that the web pages are compliant with the World Wide Web Consortium's ( W3C ) HTML 4.01 standards and Section 508 requirements of the U.S. Rehabilitation Act . The text-only version of the website also conforms to more rigid W3C 's Web Content Accessibility Guidelines 1.0 .

We take conformance to accessibility standards very seriously and will make every attempt to correct web pages that violate them. If you have difficulty viewing this website, please contact us . In your email, please include your browser name and version and describe your issue in detail.

This website is compliant with W3C HTML 4.01 standards.  This website's cascading style sheets conform to the W3C CSS standards.  This website is Bobby 508 approved.  The text-only version of this website is Bobby AAA approved. The text-only version of the website is compliant with W3C Web Content Accessibility Guidelines 1.0
